Canberra will show its support for the people of Burma by holding 3 key events over the next week. The first event will be the handing over of a Free Burma Message Book to the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Mr Wayne Berry at 11.45 pm in Civic Square on Friday 12th October. A further 7 books will be distributed to all faith groups in the ACT community to ask their congregations to sign messages of support to the monks and people of Burma.

The second event will be a rally on Saturday 13 October at 11 am in Civic Square where a series of speakers including Des Ball (ANU) Mr Wayne Berry (MLA), Kim Sattler (UnionsACT), Deb Foskey (ACT Greens), Siri Mon Chan, (Mon Association) will address the crowd about recent events in Burma. A Street Theatre by Australian Mon Youth will be performed to mock the military regime.

The Rally in Solidarity to Support the Monks and People Burma on Saturday 13 October 2007 at 11 am in Civic Square has been organized by a coalition of groups that is called the Canberra Network for Democracy in Burma.
